Ordering and Delivery FAQs

How do I order and receive goods from The Free Range Butcher?
All products from The Free Range Butcher are available for
purchase online, or you can visit us at the various farmers markets in Sydney. When you order online you can choose home delivery or specify the farmers markets where you'd like to pick up your goods.

Where does The Free Range Butcher deliver to?
For home deliveries, we deliver to Sydney's lower north shore and northern beaches on Wednesday night.  We deliver to the upper north shore, north west suburbs, inner city, inner west and eastern suburbs on Thursday night. email us. We will also announce new delivery areas in our monthly email newsletter.

How do I know how much the goods will cost?
Our goods are based on a per kilo rate, therefore the actual cost of each item will be plus or minus 5% of the price listed. For you this means that you only pay for what you actually receive. The total listed on your confirmation email will be an approximate value. Once your order is packed and we know the exact amount payment can be made via cash or credit/debit card/EFTPOS at the time of delivery/pickup.


What are my options for delivery of my order?
When you purchase online you will have the option to specify whether you want to pick up the goods at a nominated
farmers market, or if you would like the goods delivered to you. Deliveries incur a handling fee of $15.00 per order. To minimise this cost, why not have yours and a friend's order delivered to the one address? The goods will be packaged separately according to your individual orders, but only one delivery fee will be incurred. If you choose to have your goods delivered along with your friend's order, please just write a quick note in the comments box when you're completing your order so that we can ensure the delivery fee is only applied once.

When are orders delivered?
Deliveries to Sydney's lower north shore and northern beaches are done on Wednesday each week between 5.00pm - 9.00pm. Deliveries to Sydney's upper north shore, north west suburbs, inner city, inner west and eastern suburbs are done on Thursday each week between 5.00pm - 9.00pm.

What is the turnaround time for orders?
Orders are fulfilled within 24 - 48 hours of placing your order. If you have a special order or particular requirements, the earlier you place your order the more able we will be to meet your requirements. Please refer to the list below for your option:

  • Home delivery on Wednesday (lower north shore and northern beaches) - place order by Monday night
  • Home delivery on Thursday (upper north shore, north west suburbs, inner city, inner west and eastern suburbs) - place order by Tuesday night
  • Pick up at Hornsby farmers market on Thursday - place order by Tuesday night
  • Pick up at North Sydney farmers market on Saturday - place order by Thursday night (preceding the monthly market)
  • Pick up at Orange Grove / Lilyfield farmers market on Saturday - place order by Thursday night
  • Pick up at Frenchs Forest farmers market on Sunday - place order by Thursday night
How will my goods be packaged?
Products are delivered in a recyclable box and packaged in Cryovac vacuum sealed portions. In the correct conditions, red meat will keep in the fridge for up to four weeks, and white meat for 14 days. The convenience of being able to store your meat in the fridge means no more worrying about what's been defrosted for dinner!

What if the goods that I want aren't listed on your website?
If there is a particular cut of beef, lamb, pork or chicken that you would like but it's not listed on the website, please
send us a message and we'll let you know as soon as possible if we can fulfil your order. We will also announce new products in our monthly email newsletter.
