Dear %%First Name%%,
It’s a nice time of year up at the farm. The cold nights of winter have passed, the days are getting warmer and longer and thankfully we have had good rain to get the summer grasses started and our summer pasture crops in. Dad had to return “suddenly” to ‘Blue Hills’ to get on the tractor…he has escaped the city yet again! It’s funny how a farmer can smell wet ground, even if it is 600km away… though with the 80mm or so of rain we have had I doubt that he would be able to get the tractor out for a week or so, it would be far too wet. I can see his grin from here; the LandCruiser in 4WD, driving around the paddocks, just ‘checking’ on things. Aaaah the serenity…. I’ll bust that up in a week or two with a phone call, “Hams Pete, hams! Get down here – we have hams to deliver!”
Yes, Christmas is coming. November is officially Christmas territory and the festive season will soon be upon us. We have our free range hams available again this year, and if last year was anything to go by, please order your hams early to avoid disappointment. We have also added to our range of beef products by introducing Grass Fed F1 Wagyu. This product is grown by Jason and Anne Lewis of Bingara, just north of Barraba, our home town. This pasture finished, grain assisted Wagyu cross has a marble score between four and six, and is a beautiful soft meat without the heavy fats of the higher scoring, heavily grain fed version. We have a limited supply of the Wagyu beef and are expecting just one more delivery before Christmas. If you are looking for a special meal over the festive season you cannot go past this Wagyu for a great feed.
This month I am happy to say that The Free Range Butcher celebrates our first birthday, and I would like to thank all of you that have supported us in the last year. We have loved meeting and getting to know you and your families at the markets and on our deliveries, and we are very proud to be supplying you with our home grown products. From Pete, Alison, myself and our families we thank you for your support and positive feedback, it is really appreciated.
Until next time,
 Ben Clinch Farmer/Director

For anyone who lives off the land, taking care of the environment is the most important part of their day’s work – without a healthy environment their livelihood is at risk. Agriculture is the only sector to have reduced its greenhouse gas emissions, which are down by 6% compared with Stationary Energy – up 36%, Transport – up 30% and Industrial – up 16%.
